HOW TO PLEASE YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY IN THE KITCHEN - THANKSGIVING EDITION
November 26, 2014
Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays, and it's extra special this year as I get to share it with my husband for the first time. He actually met my parents on Thanksgiving 2 years ago, and then our engagement party fell on that very same weekend last year. Now he gets to witness the crazy that goes on in my kitchen as my mom and I are cooking for about 50 guests. We have a huge family, and some friends coming over too! I have always been the queen of vegetarian side dishes in my family, and as they are Persian, they're used to lots of meat. I say the star bird - TURKEY - is enough -- I prefer to let the amount of vegetarian dishes dominate.
As it's the season of beautiful root vegetables, persimmons and mushrooms, I wanted to focus on the freshest seasonal produce I could find. In order to keep all the guys in the family happy (and most important, my hubby) I created some hearty dishes, full of lots of spices, herbs from my parent's garden, and love.
I will post the recipes to all of the dishes over the weekend, but here are a few pictures for some inspiration. ALL husband approved.
