TROPICAL SPICED SMOOTHIE
January 19, 2015

In the summer time, there is nothing more satisfying than a tropical smothie for breakfast or a light lunch. I have been spoiled enough times eating fresh papaya, pineapple or mango in Hawaii, and NO taste can compare. These are three of my favorite fruits - nothing beats their taste or their healing properties. Both papaya and pineapple are full of enzymes, and as I have many digestive issues, I have been advised to eat these two amazing fruits. I had a perfectly ripe papaya and mango so this morning I made my husband a smoothie for breakfast. He actually never wants smoothies or really anything sweet for breakfast, but once in a while, I guess it sounds really good to him and he requested one! There is something about the combination of banana, mango and papaya all blended together. A little added health tip: add a few of the papaya seeds -- that's where a lot of the enzymes and antioxidants are found. If you have ever come across natural digestive enzymes in a health food store, then you have probably seen papaya seed extract! These enzymes can help rid your body of parasites and are also considered to have an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect on our digestive systems. It is important to eat a minimal amount at a time, about 1 oz. at the most. The flavor is a bit bitter and very peppery, so don't add too many into your smoothie.
