Yes, I love coffee. No, I could not think of a more exciting or unique title for this post. I really do love coffee, not for its effects, because it actually has zero effect on me. I could drink a shot of espresso right before bed and I will still fall asleep. I never get the jitters, nor do I crave coffee or fall asleep if I do not have a cup first thing in the morning. Actually, I rarely have coffee in the morning. I like to start my day with tons of water and lemon and ginger tea. If I do have a coffee, it's almost always in the afternoon. I simply love the taste of coffee, and I am a total believer in the "coffee culture," that today, having a coffee on the go, or meeting a friend for a coffee is the norm. I see nothing wrong with that, though!
Anyways, the point of this post is not to chit chat about loving or hating coffee, it's simply how to make your good old fashioned cup of joe a bit healthier. I have had this a few times now and thought it would be a good idea to share it with all of you. It's really easy, delicious, and you most likely have most of these ingredients in your kitchen cabinet!
1/2 cup freshley brewed coffee
1/2 cup almond milk or regular milk
1 tsp chia seeds
1/2 tsp coconut oil
1 tsp maca powder
1 tsp cinnamon
Add coffee, warm almond milk or milk alternative into a small pot on medium fire. Add the chia seeds, coconut oil, maca and cinnamon and whisk for 1 minute until everything is combined. Pour into a coffee mug and enjoy!
