    HOME MADE ALMOND BUTTER

    April 10, 2015

Who isn't addicted to almond butter? There is NOTHING better than this on a rice cake, a piece of bread, on banana or on strawberries, in your smoothies, in banana bread, and simply on a tablespoon. Making it at home is a much more cost effective and delicious way to enjoy almond butter. Buying raw almonds in bulk is the best way to go, as they can get quite expensive. Though I have found great brands of nut butters here in Geneva, I still think making it at home is the best. For one, you can control the amount of sweetener added into it (if any), and it's guaranteed fresh! It's super easy to make - all you need is a good quality blender or food processor.

    Ingredients:

    1 1/2 cups raw almonds

Optional: raw honey or coconut sugar

    Directions:

Raw almond butter: place almonds and sweetener if desired in your food processor or blender and blend for about 12-15 minutes until all the natural oils have released and the almonds form into a creamy texture.

Roasted almond butter: Roast almonds at 350F for 12-15 minutes. Let cool. Place almonds and sweetener if desired in your food processor or blender and blend for about 12-15 minutes until all the natural oils have released and the almonds form into a creamy texture.
